When Encana, one of Canada’s largest energy companies, split into two entities, Cenovus, the new oil and gas division, needed a new brand.
We were tasked with developing an identity that balanced the company’s newness and fresh approach while still respecting the stability and maturity of a 40-year-old organization.
APPROACH & SOLUTION
We created a classic mark that pays tribute to the company’s dualism. With an “n” grounded in the earth as a “v” reaches for new possibilities, the clean, simple lines embody strength of purpose. The prominence of slate blue and sienna earth tones reinforces the company’s environmental commitment, a core corporate value.
This new identity played a central role in establishing the brand and now, years later, Cenovus is an internationally integrated oil company with a market value approaching $20 billion.
